Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Camera Rumors

Continuous Camera Zoom – Pixel Binning Technology
As per numerous credible leaks, the S 22 Ultra could offer continuous optical zoom with its camera. Currently, most telephoto and periscope cameras in phones only offer one optical zoom level.
The Samsung had incorporated two zoom lenses in Galaxy S21 Ultra for a reason – one provides 3x optical zoom, and the other one provides 10x. Let us say that you chose 5x zoom in that case the phone will automatically switch to a hybrid zoom by combining 3x with the digital zoom lens. However, the results will obviously be not that impressive as compared to what you get with an optical zoom. S22 Ultra is also expected to use pixel-binning technology and video recording of 16k.
No 3D ToF Cameras
Leaks and rumors also have affirmed that Samsung decided against having 3D ToF cameras in the Galaxy S22 series. Samsung has already started to equip its devices in its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series with DepthVision cameras, starting this in 2019 with the Galaxy S10 series. Samsung seemed to have abandoned the DepthVision camera in its Galaxy Note 20 series but as per rumors, it is returning to the DepthVision cameras after iPhone 12 series was equipped with LiDAR cameras by Apple.
Apparently, Samsung is adopting the DepthVision cameras just to give a better quality camera result to its customer as the brand believes that regular cameras can now achieve what Samsung users are expecting from augmented reality experiences, negating the need to include a 3D ToF sensor.
A subsidiary of Samsung is manufacturing ISOCELL Vizion 33D, a sensor that is used in 3D ToF since 2020, and to me, it seems pretty odd if Samsung is not going to use it on the flagship devices in upcoming years.
New zoom camera technology
If we label Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra as the best smartphone camera of the era then it would not be wrong and this is just because of the massive primary sensor, two iOS telephoto cameras (3x & 10x), and the autofocus ultra-wide camera. Samsung did not stop here and, is expected to launch an improved device next year with its brand new zoom technology.
Galaxy S22 Ultra will be launched with an upgraded periscope camera with continuous zoom, according to a leaker Ice universe. The elements inside the periscope camera move freely from 3x to 10x, producing perfectly enhanced optical sharpness with details at all magnification levels. This technology is just like the one used in DSLRs and other digital cameras.
Samsung S22 Ultra under-display selfie camera
Hey, wait! This is not it, there is more. The same news source has confirmed that Samsung S22 Ultra will have an under-display selfie camera, unlike other smartphones. Many rumors have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will perhaps be the pioneer Samsung phone to have such a snapper, therefore, it will not be unexpected the S22 Ultra comes with it too.
This under-display front camera means that the display will be smooth without any notch or hole for the camera. Having said that, let me tell you that ZTE Axon 20 5G tried this before. The camera was still visible in the display and didn’t produce good quality pictures, but we know Samsung definitely can do better.
Samsung Galaxy Ultra S22 Huge 200MP Camera Rumors
It is further rumored that Samsung is going to launch a 200MP Olympus camera this year. It was revealed by the company’s Twitter account Samsung Exynos account, that phone is going to have a 200-megapixel sensor, whilst referring to the Exynos 2100 chip. Galaxy S22 Ultra will be the first mobile to have it, and as well as some other devices from other brands, if rumors’ are going to be true.
This Samsung 200MP sensor is said to feature 0.64µm pixels. Although, ISOCELL, the principal manufacturer of imaging sensors for Samsung has not unveiled a new imaging sensor beyond 108 MP after HM3 which was used in S21 Ultra. However, a new 50MP sensor is in making at OSOCELL which is expected to be 50MP.

If we talk about the design of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, it is likely to share a lot of design traits with the S21 series. S22 Ultra will have evident changes in its design but as compared to the change that we witnessed in between S20 and S21 range these changes will be relatively smaller.
This model will be waterproof with a plastic back instead of glass, it will come with a USB Type-C port for charging. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, as per rumors and leaks, will have a non-removable 5000mAH battery. It will last more than 1.5 days easily. Further, the sources seem to claim that S22 Ultra is expected to be powered by a Samsung Exynos chipset with AMD GPU which is expected to be more powerful than the GPU found inside Apple’s latest A14 Bionic chip.
It has been rumored in past as well that Samsung has partnered with AMD for its 2022 flagship Exynos 2200 chipset, so we can’t claim that it’s something new.
