While playing, the Redmi K40 gaming edition feels much hotter because of its metal frame. The temperature rises to 49 degrees celsius at the back and 50 degrees celsius at the front when the room temperature at the testing side was 22 degrees celsius.

Mostly gaming-specific mobile phones lack focus on camera but this is the opposite in the case of the K40 Gaming edition. You will get a 64MP primary camera with an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro lens. On the other hand, there is a 12MP selfie shooter. The main camera support 0.7 micrometer single pixel and four in one-pixel technology. This technology greatly enhances the quality of images clicked by the main camera. The colors are brighter and vibrant with outstanding daytime performance and a higher dynamic range.
Unfortunately, the ultrawide lens picture color is dull than the main camera with increase ultra-wide-angle noise. To improve the quality you should turn on the HDR mode manually. The macro lens is also ordinary. A good thing is that it captures outstanding videos. You get 4K 30 fps with the main camera and up to 1080P 30 fps with an ultra-wide lens.

On unboxing, the mecha style box you will get a charger and a charging cable. Unlike the usual white charger, this one is yellow and black with L shaped charging head which makes it easy to charge while gaming. This 67W charger is smaller than found in Mi 11 Ultra and fully juices up your mobile in just 43 minutes. The Redmi k40 houses a 5065mAh large battery.
On testing, its battery drained 4% when we used TikTok for 30 minutes, another 30 minutes of 1080 P video drained 55 battery, half-hour greenish impact game drained 20 percent. PUBG play session drained 9 percent of the battery and for 20 minutes Briteridge consumed 13 percent of the battery. This shows its large battery will need a charge after multiple long sessions of activities.
Redmi K40 Gaming Edition Bruce Lee Review-Performance
The bruce lee edition has a high-end processor and amazing graphics. It runs on the latest Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 that improves performance and lowers power consumption. It is the second gaming mobile phone that packs Media Tek that is 6nm flagship 1200 Dimensity.
Similar to the snapdragon 870, its CPU score a single core 830 and multi-core 2994 on Geekbench 5 test. Also, its GPU score 4107 points like that of snapdragon 865 on the 3DMark Wild Life benchmark. On a high-intensity stress test, it showed amazing 98.7 percent performance and heat stability even when the mobile phone reached 50 degrees Celsius temperature. This shows that Redmi has never compromised on performance.
In the AnTuTu test, bruce Lee’s edition scores 696321 points, which is lower than that of the K40 regular variant but higher than the snapdragon 865+.
After 30 minutes of playing, the phone does not show stuttering even at 90 frames and the temperature rises to 41 degrees Celsius. At two hours of play, the battery was 55 percent that shows a good battery performance.

We have listed many pros and great features of the Redmi k40 bruce lee edition, but there are some cons that cannot be denied.
The K40 gaming edition does not pack a headphone jack which is a negative aspect, and it also does not support wireless charging. We get multiple RAM options such as 6 GB, 8 GB, and 12 GB of RAM with 128GB and 256GB storage capacity but if you want to increase the storage you won’t get an SD card option. A good part is that its UFS 3.1 storage type offers easy transfer of data.
Moreover, it does not give you the advantage of FM radio if you like to use one and packs a nonremovable battery. It also doesn’t offer a temperature sensor. GMS (Google Mobile Services) cannot be installed so google apps may not run on this phone from Mi Apps. Since this phone is only released in China so Google play services are not installed. Any units that are shipped outside may have the services. But do check it before you buy outside China.
