Weibo blogger DIgital Chat Station said that MediaTek’s flagship chip in the first half of next year has received TSMC’s 4nm process. And some mobile phone manufacturers will definitely use it. The supply chain said that MediaTek is also beginning to design and develop new chips based on TSMC’s 3nm process. Which is expected to be the first batch of production capacity.
Compared with the previous generation, TSMC’s new 3nm process chip will have a performance improvement of 15%, while also increasing efficiency by 30%, and will enter mass production at the end of 2022.
Earlier news said that MediaTek will release the first 5 nm process chip. Which will be put into production in the Q4 quarter of this year. Moreover, it was rumored that MediaTek’s 5nm chip would be used in the flagship product next year.
TechArea 24 has learned that MediaTek plans to skip 5nm and launch 4nm processors (flagship core Dimensity 2000). It is further expected, that the production will start at the end of this year or early next year.
Moreover, TSMC is preparing to supply 3nm chips to Apple for iPhone 14 in the second half of 2022. But TSMC plans to start producing 4nm chips first in the next few months.
