We all know that P-series is the one that provided the company a peak and that is why Huawei is not going to diminish it. So it has come up with a new Huawei P40 Pro. It’s the latest smartphone of 2020 with premium specifications. Huawei has succeeded to launch a feature-packed device in this global pandemic of COVID-19 despite losing google support.
Price in Pakistan:
Price in PKR. Rs.179,999
Price in USD $1077
Its price in India is Rs. 67,950. And in Bangladesh it is sold for BDT.109,990.
Colors and Variants:
Huawei P40 Pro comes in five solid colors with mate essence which reflects purity. These colors are Silver Frost, Blush Gold, Deep Sea Blue, Ice White, and Black. The smartphone has seven models and variants. Actually, they are the versions of the same device with slightly different features as a processor, internal storage, and 3G/4G/5G frequencies may vary.
Design and Feel:
Huawei P40 Pro slightly looks like other Pro models of Huawei. It has curved corners with a mounted display and provides an eye-catching view. The dimensions of the smartphone are 158.2 x 72.6 x 9 mm(6.23 x 2.86 x 0.35 inches) and it weighs 209 grams.
The smartphone has an aluminum frame but the front and back are made up of glass. Also, the body provides an IP68 dust/ water resistance. The smartphone accepts single SIM or Hybrid Dual SIM with dual-standby.
Display:
The smartphone has an OLED LCD with HDR10. The length of the display is 6.53 inches and as far I have observed, it provides a perfect rectangle shape. The screen makes the major portion of the body and screen to body ratio is approximately 91.6%. The resolution of the screen is 1200*2640 pixels and auto set brightness is 441 PPI. This seems a little less as it makes the usage difficult in bright light. But overall, the quality of the screen is outstanding. Huawei P30 Pro Review – Price and Specifications
Camera:
Huawei P40 Pro has a Quad camera at back and supports Leica optics. The first one is 50 MP, f/1.9 with a focal length of 23mm (wide). The second and third are 12 MP, f/3.4, 125mm (periscope telephoto), and 40 MP, f/1.8, 18mm (ultrawide) respectively. The fourth one is TOF 3D (depth). The video quality is of 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60fps, 720@7680fps, 1080p@960fps.
Huawei P40 Pro is featuring a dual-camera at the front with the first one of 32MP, f/2.2 having a focal length of 26mm (wide). The other one is IR TOF 3D (depth/biometrics sensor). Other features of the camera include LED flash, panorama, and HDR.
Hardware:
Huawei P40 Pro has a CPU Of octa-core (2×2.86 GHz Cortex-A76 & 2×2.36 GHz Cortex-A76 & 4×1.95 GHz Cortex-A55). And GPU is of Mali-G76 MP16. The chipset is of Kirin 990 5G. The smartphone has a Li-Po 4200 mAh which is non-removable. The battery also gets charged very fast and delivers a power of 40W. The device lacks a 3.5mm audio jack for a wired headset. Software and Performance:
The device is based on GSM/HSPA/LTE network technology and runs on Android 10 EMUI 10.1. There is no google play service available on the device. The smartphone has 8GB RAM and the internal storage of the phone is 128/256/512 GB being three variants of the device.
You may increase the storage of the device via an SD card that uses a shared slot of SIM. Huawei P40 Pro has both fingerprint and 3D face unlock options. Both can be used side by side. Light pops up when a finger touches the sensor. The front camera recognizes the 3D face recognition and makes it more secure.
There is a health app, Huawei’s own music services plus it offers to listen to stored MP3s. Connectivity includes Bluetooth, NFC, USB, GPS, and Infrared port. Sensory options include accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and color spectrum.
Competitors:
Competitors of Huawei P40 Pro include Redmi Note 9 Pro, OPPO A52, iPhone 11, Redmi Note 9, and OPPO Reno 5 Pro. Redmi Note 9 has less RAM but higher battery capacity than with a little higher price. Again OPPO A52 has higher battery capacity but less screen resolution with the same storage.
Apple iPhone 11 has a shorter display, less battery capacity, and less screen resolution at approximately the same price. Redmi Note 9 uses a processor of MediaTek Helio G85 and has less RAM than the Huawei p40 pro. Overall, the device provides the best experience among all its competitors.
Verdict:
Huawei is known for its Kirin 990 processor which gives the best performance. Huawei P40 Pro uses the same with good haptics. The device offers a luxurious design with a 3D face unlock. Another best thing is its rear camera which gives the best photography experience.
The disappointing thing about the device is the absence of google play services and you won’t be able to use some apps and games. Also, the inclusion of an SD card uses a shared SIM slot that you have to sacrifice on the second SIM if you want to increase the storage. Apart from these, the smartphone fulfills all other needs of modern users.
